Improvisation

Sometimes it is quite useful not being able to get what you want in local shops. I spent this afternoon turning thin strips of silk into wrapped cords and then applying them to the shawl. I wanted some rayon knitted cord that I could dye to colour, this made an acceptable substitute, probably better. I think I am almost ready to apply knotted ribbon here and there, but have one or two blank spots along the length of the stole I must fix up first.

I've often found that too! Improvisation and inspiration can surely create some wondrous things then--i live in a small coastal town and the big city is a ferry ride away so have to work with what i have sometimes. Can't wait to see the shawl finished Maureen!

Thanks, arlee. I sometimes think it is desperation gets the adrenalin flowing!

Your improvisation sounds fantastic - I find that when you do things like that, you're even happier with the result because it 'goes' with the finished peice more than commercial trimmings do (sometimes).

Sounds like your enjoying making this shawl - can't wait to see more pics!!
