Heart Attack Procedure: (NOT A JOKE)

Women should also know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting.

Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.

Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.

The pain in the jaw happened to me and woke me from a sound sleep.

I was one of the fortunate ones. Trust me when I tell you it's pain unlike anything you've ever experienced before.

Given a choice between natural child birth and a heart attack, pain-wise; it's much easier to have a baby.

Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know..........

Let's say it's 6.15pm and you're driving home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job. You're tired, upset and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home.

Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell
you how to perform it on yourself.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint,
has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating.

The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other
people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!

I had some blue linen left over from the skirt I made, so decided to make a little bag. I embellished the flap of the bag with these applique flowers, beaded, painted background. Have done a 4-strand plait in fabric to go around the edges and form a handle, but this is still in process of being stitched on.

I have been quietly working away on this quilt for some time now. I have at last put the piano keys borders together and added them so the quilt is all ready for quilting. I suppose I should really have called this a quilt top, but I am a bit carried away with enthusiasm at present. The white mark to the left of the picture is a reflection from the sunshine outside, it was the most glorious day yesterday, but a bit hot for Tai Chi. I came home from my Tai Chi group, showered, changed and finished the blue linen skirt I have been making. I think it must be something to do with the blue skies inspiring me to work with blue fabrics!

Crossed off the list
I made major efforts yesterday and finished off the blue quilt, the pieced border is now finished and it is ready for sending to the quilter. My Y2K quilt has the sashing fixed and the border is now cut out, then this one too will be ready for the quilter. Both are too large for me to do at home.

Am still beading on the little bag, just love the way the beads add subtle sparkle to the work. Am going to cut off my first row of beading as I don't like the beads I used here. Just embedding a few beads in the plaited yarns, but don't want them to be too obvious.

My garden is beginning to repay some of the work I have put into it. Here is a picture of a gorgeous yellow iris that has just begun to bloom:

For Illustration Friday - strength. This is a very tenuous link to the theme for the week. The socks were group painted and the bars on the socks represent the strength of friendship forged in this workshop. A day of sunshine, fun, splashing paint around as a shared activity creates strong bonds of friendship IMHO
