Charity quilt 1

I spent today making borders for these double nine-patch blocks. I have enough blocks for another quilt, which still have to be stitched together and bordered.

My group made about 100 quilts for the Kosovan refugees who were housed in Perth; it was a monumental task in the time we had to do this. Remembering this, and being aware of the continual need for quilts to help people cope in dire emergency, we are slowly collecting together a supply of quilts all made from donated blocks and fabrics.

My online quilting group Kiwiquilters also made quilts for the Kosovo refugees. I enjoy making stuff that I know will be so appreciated by the recipients.

I am emptying out (literally) my cabinets here at home that hold my fabric stash. I'm never gonna use most of it. I am keeping some stuff that I just love too much (but will probably end up getting rid of later) or really large yardages to use for backings but the rest is going to the "Quilts for Kids" group at our library. We have a lot of really poor families in our area so the gorup makes quilts for them and also for the local police to carry in their cars to use for kids who have been traumatized. They will have PLENTY of fabric now.
